Surprise! Daley is Here!

Wow...where to even start? This past week and a half, Denver and I celebrated the 4th of July, got to fly to Phoenix, and had a baby! It was Sunday, July 4th, and Denver and I were sitting in Sacrament meeting with his family when I thought I felt a contraction. I had Denver and Kayden feel the top of my tummy when it would get hard. We weren't sure at first but when they kept coming every 3 mins Denver and I knew they were true contractions. They started in Sacrament and never let up.
Denver and I went back to his parents house and I drank a bunch of water and put my feet up. The crontractions still weren't letting up. So Denver and I decided we better head up to Greer to visit with my family and see if they get any worse. When we got up there...they started hurting. So we called the doctor on call and asked what she thought we should do and immediately she told us to go to Show Low. Denver and immediately jumped in the car and headed to Show Low and the contractions hurt worse and worse.
When we finally got to the ER and they got me right in to get checked. I was dialated to a 3 and the nurse thought I was completely ephased! When she left the room she started getting a flight arranged for us to go to Phoenix. The nurse came back and gave me a catheder for the flight. After a few minutes of having the catheder in, I felt a little trickle of something. I told the nurse that I thought the catheder was leaking....and she said "Honey I'm pretty sure the catheder isn't leaking.." Then she got a strip to test the fluid to see if my water had broke. Sure enough, the test came back positive and my water was leaking. I was going to have to fly in a helicopter and Denver probably wouldn't be able to fly with me, which was not going to be acceptable. Denver remembered in the nick of time my Uncle Jim who is a flight nurse. His company flies patients off the mountain to better help elsewhere. We gave him a call and he was there in 15 mins to pick Denver and I up to fly to Sky Harbor where an ambulence would pick us up to take us to St. Joseph's Hospital. Thank you so much Jim! It meant a lot to us!
As soon as we got there a team of doctors and nurses assessed me. I was dialated to a 4 but only 50% ephased. (I think the nurse in Show Low miss diagnosed me.) The doctors were convinced that my water hadn't broke because they didn't see any more evidence of any amniotic fluid. Since my water wasn't broke in their opinion the decided to take me off the magnisium and wait to see what happens. They weren't to worried if we had the baby because we were at 34 weeks and the baby pretty much had a 100% chance of survival. But since I was only at 34 weeks they didn't want to induce me and break my water. We waited all day Monday in the Labor and Delivery room for my water to break. The doctors were going to let me walk around to do a blood pressure test but my blood pressure stablized so they changed their minds. I asked my nurse if I could just walk around my room and she said that would be fine. I was really nice to be able to sit in a regular chair and walk around. Then the nurse let me get in the shower. After the shower, I sat back down in bed getting ready to go to sleep when I felt something leak again.

We called the nurse in and they checked it and sure enough it was amniotic fluid! My water officially broke 12:00 AM Tuesday morning. So they hooked up the pitosin and told Denver and I to get some sleep because it was going to be a long day ahead of us. Denver and I slept pretty well all night and woke up around 7:00. That was when my contractions started hurting again. So I let the nurse know that I was ready for my epidural. Thirty mins later, I was in heaven! So for the rest of the day I was in and out of sleep until I dialated to a 10 and I was ready to push at 3:15. I pushed for a full hour before our little Daley came. Daley Finch was born July 6, 2010 at 4:14 PM weighing 5 lbs. 8 oz. , 19 inches long, and absolutley gorgeous!

Because Daley was born 6 weeks early, her lungs haven't completely developed which required her to be admitted into the NyICU to help strengthen her lungs. She is doing great and progressing everyday! The doctors and nurses have all had a hard time finding good veins for her IV's so she has had them everywhere because of complications. Her latest one is in her forehead which is so sad. She is still cute as can be and Denver and I call her our little baby tin girl! My computer is taking extra long to upload photos so I can only get two in....but don't worry we will post soon when Denver and I get our little bundle of joy home with more pictures! Denver and I have been so blessed during this exciting and trying time with so many acts of service from everyone. Thank you so much for everything, it meant more than you will ever know. Denver and I can't wait until we can bring out sweet, little Daley home!

Mt. Graham & Rodeo

Denver and I got to hang out with Madi this weekend and Madi knows how to party! We woke up Saturday morning and did a little bit of yard selling (which we were unsuccessfull) then we got ready and headed up the mountain to the Layton Cabin. When Madi and I were young before we moved to Eagar, we would spend at least a couple of weeks up at the cabin to escape from the hot desert weather. Denver and I have been married over a year now and he had not seen it yet so I was excited to show Denver where a lot of my summer childhood memories were. These next couple of pictures are taken just above where the cabin is and you can see a good portion of the valley below.



Madison loves car rides and she would rather sit and wait than to get out and enjoy the scenery. She didn't want to stop!



Then Denver got a call from his sister Brooklyn telling us that they were on their way to the Gila Valley to go to a rodeo! We were so excited! So we met up with Brooklyn and her family and Ethan and Jessica Eagar and went to the rodeo to watch Dallas compete. Here are a few pictures of all of us enjoying the rodeo!

Maternity Pictures

This past weekend, Denver and I got to go and spend time with his sister Brook and her sweet little family! I had to take a test to be able to be placed in the middle school for my student teaching on Saturday morning for 4 hours! The first hour was the longest; somewhere around 10:00 I decided I was really hungry; somewhere around 10:30, Daley decided she was really hungry and stretched her leg out as far as she could which didn't feel very good, so I had to stop what i was doing and lean back and push her foot back where it was suppose to go. Then around 11:30 at question #100 I was thinking I only had one more question to go (which I did) but it was an essay question that I had no idea about. I was devistated! So I had to spend another 45 min working on my essay. I did survive and Denver came and rescued me!

The rest of the day was spent shopping...for things that were desperately needed!

Then on Sunday afternoon, Brook offered to take prego pictures of me. They turned out so well! I have quite a few of them and I wouldn't mind showing all of them because they all look so great!Thank you so much Brook! I'm at 30 weeks in these pictures.

Memorial Day and the Gila Box

This Memorial Day this year Denver and I got to go to the Gila Box and tube down the rapids! Well considering that we were on the Gila River...the rapids weren't too rough....don't worry! Denver and I were really excited to get to go and see the place where the Gila Valley Temple's mural was painted from. It is gorgeous down there! When we got there we found the perfect spot for the family to set up camp for the day. The water was a little chili at first but once you got in it was really nice and it kept you cool during the summer heat. We even got to go tubing a little bit. My dad dropped us off a little ways up stream and we floated down. It wasn't too bad except at the very beginning. Denver, my mom, and I got down to the river and saw that it looked a little dangerous for a prego girl to be floating down, so we decided to try it a little further downstream. Long story short...Denver and my mom got swept away by the current and my mom lost her shoes and Denver got a big bruise but they were just fine. I was the lucky one! We had a blast being able to spend time with the family!

Happy Mother's Day

I don't think anyone could have gotten luckier that Denver and I. Not only did we get the best moms in the world...we got the best mother-in-laws too!





Our Mother's still love us even after we...
1. Stuck a peeled off fingernail in Mom's soda straw....right before she drank it.
2. Let our brother think it was my toes he was smashing with a bamboo stick when really it was Mom's.
3. Jump off the back of a moving stationwagon going 45 mph.
4. Scare her to the point of wetting her pants.
5. Watched her get smashed in between the van and the swimming pool building even when we didn't touch anything.
6. Actually touched the gears and wrecked the suburban.

Things we learned from our mother's...
1. Being humble enough to ask how to stop a refrigerator water dispenser from overflowing your cup.
2. You won't get a ticket if you drive 5 mph over the speed limit.
3. How to be the best damn driver.
4. If it doesn't taste just right...put a little butter on it.
5. Instead of calling the police department...call your dad.
6. The best soda...is a stolen soda.
7. Paint it black!
8. If the Angel Moroni waves to you when you come out of the temple...your girlfriend will wait for you.
9. You'll wet your pants if you don't cross your legs when you sneeze or cough.
10. Love your enemies and kill them with kindness.

As we wrote this...we realize just how similar our mothers really are. We are so grateful for everything they have taught us and sacrificed for us. We love you! And we know you'll love this picture!

Madison & Miracles

(Isn't Madison just Beautiful?)



I just wanted to post about my dear sister, Madi. She is such a joy in our lives and we love getting to spend time with her and seeing her sweet smile and hearing her laugh. This past Wednesday, our family got the surprise of our lifetime. It all started when our cousin Alex invited us to attend the Young Women Recognition Fireside because there was going to be a spotlight on Madi. We were thrilled to be invited knowing Madi was going to be spotlighted. We just thought she was going be spotlighted for turning 18 and graduating from Young Women's or something small like that, but were we wrong!

After the meeting got started, it was time for Alex to get up and present her spotlight on Madi. She started by telling the touching story of the day Madison was born and how things ended up with finding out her diagnosis of Autism. Our whole family was in tears. Then Alex goes on and tells how she thought about Madison while she was doing her Personal Progress and felt a great need to help Madison with hers because she could not do it on her own. After getting special permission from the Stake Presidency, Alex's wish was granted. She involved the young women and YW leaders of her ward and together they completed Madison's Young Women Recognition award which is a difficult and time consuming task that takes most young women a few years to do. It only took them a few months which is a miracle in itself.

Our family was completely surprised and so grateful that there were so many people who love Madison enough to do such a wonderful act as service as this. After Alex's touching talk, Madison was presented her Young Women Medallion with a book of all of her values and 10 hour projects signed off and the experiences the Young Women and leaders had with it. My parents went up with Madi in complete shock and tears streaming down there faces with great gratitude. Then we got to watch a beautiful video of Madison when she was a baby up until today. This whole fireside was so touching. The whole time, Denver and I had a hard time keeping the tears from falling on our laps.

We want to thank everyone who was involved in this wonderful act of service, it meant more than you will ever know.

Denver and I are so grateful to be able to be sealed together for Time and All Eternity not only to each other but also to our wonderful families! This wonderful act of service done for our family was such a great reminder of the importance of temples. In temples, families can be sealed together not only for time in this life, but also in the next life for eternity. Temples are also a place where family members who have passed away without receiving these great blessings also have the opportunity to be sealed to their families. What a wonderful feeling to know these things! Denver and I are so excited to have a temple just 3 minutes away from our home! We can actually see it from a distance from our own front porch (well it's really an old cotton haulin' trailer). We are already planning our weekly schedule to attend often! I couldn't really find a picture of it that I loved. All of the good ones are copyrighted....so I decided to use this beautiful one of the Mesa Temple where Denver and I got married. It is also gorgeous!
